Moving out for the first time

Moving from home is something that is inevitable for most of us. Whether it’s for uni or if you just decided it was time for your own space with friends or with your partner.

When I was younger I was always so excited to move out because I believed that moving out = adulthood. It meant I could come home as late as I wanted, eat what I wanted, invite whoever I wanted over at literally anytime. This was how I felt until it eventually came.

I remember the day I moved out into a different house I sat on my empty bed in my empty room and my cat was lying beside me. I think to me that was the worst part. To me my pets are everything! I am just such an animal lover I honestly do think animals are better than humans most of the time! I found this to be the hardest part because I can’t text my pets or call them whenever I feel like I need to hear their purr or their meow. My biggest fear was that they’d just forget I ever existed, but ladies and gentlemen don’t worry they never forget you I promise. It wasn’t as hard to leave my parents because I felt like I could just talk to them whenever I needed or wanted to – that’s the only good thing about the internet lol. (I still cried)

After I left though I knew that I took life with my family for granted. I never had enough hugs or enough movie nights or even enough I love you’s or thank you’s (I never used to say I love you) but now I do every day to them because I do SO MUCH.

Moving from home can be a dream for some and a nightmare for others but it’s just the start of your independence!

My advice for this time in your life is just to take your time and do it when you feel ready. When you are ready don’t forget moving out doesn’t mean you’ll never see them again!! They are always there with open arms waiting for you to visit and they love when you do. Take every day at a time and if you’re flatting with people make sure you know and really like them because I had the WORST first year flatting ever. (That’s a story for another blog post 😉 ) Now I’ve been away from home for 4 years and honestly I still do miss being with my family 24/7 but I know they are always waiting for me to come back and so are my little kitties.

I think people always forget no matter where you leave to your family and what you think of as home is always there to greet you back so go have fun and write your own story 🙂

Much love,
